EAOK representatives met with the Minister of Agriculture to discuss Czech-Azerbaijani cooperation

On Tuesday, January 15, 2019 the president of the European-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (EACOC) David Snashel and Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Farid Shafiyev held an official meeting with the Minister of Agriculture Miroslav Toman and discussed possible agricultural projects between Czech Republic and Azerbaijan.

Representatives of the EACOC and Azerbaijani Ambassador met with the Czech Minister of Agriculture to discuss results of organized by EACOC mission to Ismayilli, Azerbaijan’s agricultural region, which took place at the end of the last year.
While visiting Ismayilli region, Czech delegation has visited several agricultural institutions and had fruitful discussion with the governor of Ismayilli region Mirdamad Sadigov. Later the delegation in capital of Azerbaijan Baku met with the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan and then had a meeting at the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.

“We are very pleased that the Minister accepted us and allowed us to present possible agricultural projects that can be implemented between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan. We plan to organize further missions to Azerbaijan creating new opportunities to expand cooperation between our states”, said David Snashel, president of the EACOC.

During Tuesday meeting Minister Toman welcomed plans of the EACOC to promote cooperation between Czech and Azerbaijani agricultural sectors. The parties then discussed possible joint projects in priority areas that require investment in agricultural sector. Among topics raised by the Azerbaijani side were mainly animal breeding and mutual exchange of experience in the field of artificial insemination and embryonic transfer, decontamination of soil from fertilizers and their byproducts and last but not least, the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants.

Furthermore, representatives of EACOC and Ambassador Shafiyev discussed with the Minister cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in agricultural education sphere. “We agreed with the Minister that student exchanges and internships in the Czech Republic could take place in future,” added Snashel.

At the end of the meeting Czech Minister invited Azerbaijani agricultural companies to participate at agricultural exhibitions taking place in the Czech Republic. For example he invited Azerbaijani side to participate at the National Livestock Exhibition in Brno that will open its gates from May 12th to May 15th 2019.
